Really interesting read. I’d venture to guess that the reason productivity didn’t increase with computers is because until computers, ie: automation, companies paid workers increases for productivity. Companies now automate, fire, and take profits for shareholders. This has been the model that has created the current system of worker burnout. Humans do the grunt work not yet automatable by computers and we aren’t getting paid any more. I think this is evident by the lack of minimum wage increases since the 80s, which is basically when the internet started getting going.
